Do bearded dragons dragons bite?

Bearded dragons are usually very gentle pets. They don’t want to bite people — they’d much rather chill out, eat their bugs and veggies, and enjoy a cuddle in the sun! Sometimes, though, a beardie might give a little nip if: They think your finger is a tasty worm or crunchy bug. They feel a bit scared or surprised. They’re feeling extra bossy during breeding season. But don’t worry! A bearded dragon bite isn’t very strong. It might feel like a sharp pinch, but it doesn’t usually hurt much. The most important thing to remember is: Always wash your hands after handling a beardie — not because of the bite, but to stay clean and healthy. So the truth is: bearded dragons are more likely to be your calm, scaly friend than to ever bite.

1: Do you board tortoise?

Yes, we do board small breed tortoises such as Hermann’s and Horesfield.

2: What accommodation do you provide for tortoises?

We provide both indoor and outdoor accommodation:

Our indoor enclosures are bespoke with UVB lighting, a heat lamp, and a temperature and humidity thermostat to provide them with the perfect heat and humidity they need. We also provide a water dish large enough for a dip if needed, which is checked throughout the day. This is in case it has been used as a toilet, and is cleaned and replenished with fresh water. Substrate, is top-soil and a little play sand for the purpose of digging into when hot or to sleep, along with some edible tortoise bedding and a cosy tunnel to hide in for that cosy nights sleep and a snack! A slate tile is also used to serve your tortoises veggies on, the purpose for this, is to file down their own beaks as they eat, so a vet visit is avoided!

Our outdoor enclosures are bespoke and designed by ourselves, completely safe and secure. With a wooden frame and mesh top, stopping predators from getting in, with a waterproof, insulated house with hay inside for those afternoon naps. We use slabs as a base purely for easy cleaning and sanitization after each boarding guest. A digging box is provided, along with a variety of textures to explore, like stones and bark tunnels to rest in out of the sun.

If the substrate we provide is not to your preference, we can can talk about alternatives!

3: What will my tortoise have to eat while boarding with you?

We feed whatever they have at home with your guidance, along with a variety of other veggies for them to try. We feed veggies and fruit such as, romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumber, dandelion leaves and flowers. If a pellet food is fed, we ask you to bring this with you, this helps your tortoise with its adjustment and aids their digestion keeping to what they are used to, preventing tummy problems.

4: Do you provide calcium supplementation?

Yes we do, cuttlefish is provided for calcium purposes, for strong bones and their shell and beaks. For tortoises that do not eat cuttlefish, we offer powdered calcium which is added to their food.

What if my pet becomes unwell?

We will contact you as first port of call, if you wish us to take your pet to your normal vet (distance dependant) we will do so. If you are not registered with a vet, we will take your pet to our reptile specialist. All fees will be charged to yourselves, any treatment needed will be given but only with your agreement. We do have an agreement that will have a section asking your permission with this procedure, we will care for your pet until your return.
